GENDA Passes!

The Gender Expression Non-Discrimination Act just passed the state senate after spending a dozen years in legislative purgatory. It will add gender identity and gender expression to the categories protected under NYS’s current discrimination laws. Sixteen other states, Rochester and New York City already have similar laws on the books. A ban on conversion therapy has also passed the State Senate and Assembly. Once passed, any therapies that try to change the sexual orientation of a person under 18 will be considered professional misconduct.

Among the groups supporting GENDA is the NY ACLU, who have put out a fact sheet and included it in their 100 days report.
